The Ferrara Film Festival will be more than just an international film competition, it will be a cultural educational and economical bridge between United States and Italy through the art and showcase of films from all over the World, cinematic collateral events and entertainment shows.
It will be the first film festival in Italy "made in USA", as the planning and the organization will be spearheading in Los Angeles, California.
The City of Ferrara is part of UNESCO as a World Heritage site and it will serve as an incredible backdrop for this high profile cinematic event. The city is placed in the strategic northern Italian area between Florence, Bologna and Venice and, despite having already terrific structures to host large events, the city still didn’t reach its full potential in the international scene.

At the Ferrara Film Festival there will be films "Off Competition" and "In Competition".
The selected films "In Competition" will be divided in two main sections:

"USA"
Films produced in the United States of America.
(The motion pictures can be filmed everywhere, but the Production Company must be legally based in the US).

"WORLD"
Films produced in the rest of planet.
(The motion pictures can also be filmed in the United States, but the Production Company must be legally based outside the US).
"OFF COMPETITION"

At the Ferrara Film Festival there will be two movies “Off Competition”, and they will be American feature films of critical praise and commercial appeal. They could be World or European premieres. One of them will be the "Opening Film" and the other one the "Closing Film".
"IN COMPETITION"

Besides the "USA" & "WORLD" classification, there will be two sub-categories called "EFFETTO CINEMA" and "EMILIA-ROMAGNA FILMMAKERS".

The EFFETTO CINEMA category will focus on films with a prominent amount of special & visual effects.

The EMILIA ROMAGNA FILMMAKERS will focus on films produced or filmed in the Italian Region of Emilia-Romagna.
